Our approach
Your food choices stay yours.
How CarbTable stores local food selections and handles optional product analytics and privacy choices.
Local preferences
Favorites, comparison selections and your current meal are saved in this browser’s local storage. They are not synced to an account or sent to CarbTable as meal records. Clearing site data removes them. Private browsing and storage restrictions may prevent them from being saved.
Hosting and technical requests
Your browser requests pages, scripts and images from the hosting service. The provider may process technical request information, such as IP address and access time, to deliver and secure the service. Private previews may require the hosting provider’s sign-in.
Analytics and advertising
Optional product analytics uses PostHog only after you choose “Allow analytics.” It records pages viewed, referring website domains, food searches, search result counts, selected foods, portion quantities and actions in My meal, favorites and the comparison tool. This helps us improve navigation and identify missing foods. It does not mean that a selected food was eaten.
Analytics uses a random browser identifier stored locally; we do not attach your name, email or an account profile. We disable session recordings, automatic form capture and IP-based location collection. The correction form text, full referring URLs and search fragments are not collected. Search terms have length and character limits and basic redaction; avoid entering personal or medical information into food search.
You can decline or stop future collection using “Analytics preferences” at the bottom of any page. Your calculators, favorites and meals still work. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals are respected. Declining later does not erase events already received. PostHog processes permitted events in its US cloud; see PostHog’s privacy notice. Contact hello@carbtable.com about privacy. There are no advertising trackers.
Data reports
The data issue form prepares an email draft in your own email app or a local downloadable file. It does not submit your text to our server. If you send the email, the project owner receives its contents and your email address to investigate and respond. Do not include medical or other sensitive personal information.

Links to USDA and other external sources take you to services with their own policies. This policy was prepared October 26, 2026.
