FoodData Central datasets and the provenance of CarbTable’s food catalogue.
USDA FoodData Central
The catalogue uses public-domain data published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, in FoodData Central. USDA publishes these data under CC0. CarbTable is an independent project and is not endorsed by USDA.

These are the source releases currently used, not a claim that every record is the latest available. Source release dates differ from the CarbTable import date. All food pages link to their original FDC record.
Why the original description matters
Reference foods can differ by variety, preparation, added ingredients and water content. A short display name is accompanied by the full USDA description on the detail page. For packaged foods, the actual product label may describe your product more closely.
